I've Got A Crush On You!

I've received several awards over the past month and now is the time to acknowledge those wonderful people who gave them to me, not to mention pass them along to other esteemed peeps. All this blog bling and linky love has caused me to ask my wonderful blog designer Crissy to create my very own awards button here on this site. This way, my badges can be proudly displayed but without cluttering up my sidebars. So thank you, I'll wear them proudly forever.

First, let me say that I'm really bad at this award stuff. It takes me a long time before I accept them and then bestow them on someone else.

Second, I don't follow the rules with them. Many times you're supposed to give them out to a certain number of people or say some random things about yourself. I don't follow instructions well and make up my own rules.

Finally, I am grateful for the praise I receive. I'm honored that people like this site and find me interesting. That is such a nice perk, especially since frankly I write some very uninteresting things. Ultimately, I just write whatever and whenever. I rather enjoy my close group of friends here on this site. I like being able to keep up with the comments I receive. I often will email a reader to get to know her or him better.

Anyway, thank you for being a part of my site. Now, on to the prizes! The reason for this post!

Here are several people who have a major crush on me - (either that or they want to stay as a guest in my home next summer, since we'll be close to the Florida panhandle beaches):

Debra at Write on Target gave me another award, this time it was the Kreative Blogger honor. I think she has a virtual infatuation with me. I'm humbled by it though. Ya see, I have a crush on her too. She's a writer, a musician, a beautiful blonde and more. I can't believe she even knows who I am. I aspire to be her!

Jenny Mac at Let's Have a Cocktail gave me the I give good blog award that she invented. Since she is the essence of cool (next to Madonna of course), I'm truly honored. I am like the band geek sitting next to her, the class president and head cheerleader. Thanks for the award and for letting me into your cool circle.

Lee at Hormones, Headaches and Hotflashes gave me this friendship award and considers me a friend. Well, that is just about the best gift I can receive, don't you think? The gift of friendship. Thanks Lee. Your sense of humor, conversations with your husband and family stories definitely keep me laughing and interested in learning more about you.

Sonja at 30 Before 30 gave me an awesome girl award. Wow, I'm awesome now! Thanks Sonja. I think you're terrific as well. I hope you can cross those 30 things off your list before you turn 30. I wish I had the foresight to think of something like that before I hit that milestone. Now I'm 31 and just too lazy.

Crystal at Brunette on a Budget gave me a Kreative Blog award - how I do I love her, let me count the ways?! I really am a little bit in love with this girl. She's gorgeous, hilarious, and best of all a wonderful writer. She and I dig each other in a big way (non-lesbian though) and we sometimes email each other or share stories. She is writing a book and being her husband's cheer squad as he is finishing law school. She's talented and she's frugal. Check her out if you haven't already.

Marguerite at Cajun Delights gave me this lovely blog award. She is a lady who shares my Cajun roots and love for seafood, jazz music and dancing. I can't say enough good things about her. She posts these wonderful photos of the great dishes she makes and all the fun things she does each weekend. Don't miss the chance to visit her site. Thanks for the honor, cher!

Who do I want to give these awards to? Yes, ALL of these awards. Let me think about it. Okay, I know who deserves them:

(1) Cameron at Conquer the Monkey
She has a unique blog and title. Her posts are always interesting and educational. She generally seems to want to inspire and help others. I find her so admirable and refreshing in this often crazy bloggy world. Cameron, I adore you and I love visiting your site.

(2) Kaela at The Quarter Life Chronicles - I discovered her through a comment she left on my friend Cathy at Antsy Pants site. I believe they are friends in real life. Kaela is a great writer and has a wonderful outlook on life. Her posts are intriguing and funny. I can tell this girl has something special!

(3) Carrie at The Scarlett Letters - she is my friend and pal from babycenter.com and I just love her to pieces. Our kids are born just a few weeks apart and we are always sharing stories about how they drive us crazy. More importantly though is that she has a fun blog full of beautiful photographs, random and witty thoughts on life and a wonderful sense of humor. She doesn't post as often as I wish she would. But when she does, it is always entertaining and always worth reading.

(4) Jen at Two Kids and a Map - she may just end up being my future B-F-F in Pensacola where I'm moving to in less than a week. She contacted me from an online mom's group I recently joined and I discovered her wonderful blog where she writes about her travel adventures all around the world with her two children. I can't wait to meet her in person and have her be my personal tour guide. No sitting around on my butt with a friend like her around!

That's all the sites that I can think of for now. There are many wonderful bloggers out there but most of them have already received these awards so I tried to select people who I think are lesser known, not as frequently visited but very deserving of these honors. So enjoy getting to know them as I have been.

Oh and here are a few random things about me that came to mind. I forget how many I'm supposed to reveal because I don't follow the rules of the awards.... but here you go:

(a) I listen to (and like) the John Tesh radio show. Weird, I know. I never thought of myself as a John Tesh kind of gal. But he has a pleasant voice, offers great tips and plays good music during his show. None of his own music of course.

(b) I really didn't like my own daughter until she was 11 months old. I remember looking at her as her personality was just starting to surface at this point. Finally, I thought to myself... I like you. Sure, I loved her before that time but I really wasn't sure if I would like her. I'm just not an infant loving stage kind of person and the thought of having a second baby really does scare me. (That's partly why I'm in no hurry for another child).

(c) I am a big chicken when it comes to scary movies. I almost never watch them and when I do, it will be in the middle of the day with the lights on. I would rather watch those comedy movies that make fun of all the different horror films.

(d) A part of me is very interested in sign language and thinks it might be fun to teach it part-time to children. My daughter and I regularly watch sign language DVD's and I really enjoy communicating with her in this way. I find it so easy and entertaining, especially when music and song lyrics are involved in signing.

(e) I still watch some teenager genre television shows and movies. If I catch Saved by the Bell or Sabrina the Teenage Witch on cable, I will sit and watch the entire episode. It's as if I don't want to grow up or admit that I'm over 30 years old. Why can't Zack Morris notice me? And what is wrong with me wanting to be Pippi Longstocking or Willy Wonka's chosen kid to run the chocolate factory. Yes, sadly I wish this were my life sometimes. LOL!

Okay, I'm too tired to think of anything else. Whew, I'm exhausted typing and pasting all this information. And I've been cleaning all day and not fun stuff either - microwave, stove, etc. to prepare for our move in six days. So thanks for these honors. It's time for bed now. Yes I know it's early but I'm worn out!

Have a great night! Cheers!

i know steph - it must be awards season or else everyone waits until the weekend to post them! well congrats to you and thanks for passing along some bloggers for us to peruse!

thanks for dropping by the crib the other day - i get what you are saying, if i was only blogging FOR MY PLEASURE - sounds like a female lubricant add - i would probably follow no one and my life would be so much eaiser, but i am an aspiring author, ala david sedaris -look him up, he's awesome- and so it is really about getting the word out to as many as i can about me and my writing and hopefully someday get published so i can buy a house i don't hate living in and buy a car that runs and have health insurance, so anyhow, enough about me - how was your weekend? HA!

Congrats on all your awards! You deserve them all :) Love getting to know even more about you. I'm a chicken about scary movies too. I can't even watch a scary commercial before those images start sticking in my head.

I think it would be awesome if you taught children sign language. What a beautiful and meaningful idea!

Just found your site today, and it's so great! I have to admit.....I also like the John Tesh Radio Show! I never thought I would because, well...for some reason I though it'd be nerdy (And maybe it is, but I still like it!). :-)

I love you too!!! You're definitely my "bff online" haha. I know I've said it before, but I feel like we're long-lost sisters. Too many spooky similarities and quirks for it to just to be coincidental.

P.S. When it's on I still totally watch Saved by the Bell too. LOL. Hello, Slater in his little ballet leotard dancing in the Max trying to get Jesse back? Classic tv, my friend, classic tv.

Oh my goodness Mandy - thanks so much for the award! Being new to the blogosphere it is so nice to hear that people are reading it and liking it (other than my mom who is genetically obligated to like it). The support means so much to me!

Good luck on your move! While you are offline I'll definitely be checking out the other blogs you "awarded!"

Holy awards show! Awesome!

Kaela and I are not friends in real life:( Maybe someday?!! Who knows!

I've given up on scary movies. I'm too jumpy and will scare the crap out of myself for days after watching a scary movie.

Mandy, you are one hot, popular blogging gal!!!
you SOOOOO deserve your awards, and I loved reading the tidbits about YOU. I especially think it was brave admitting you didn't like (but did love) your daughter til 11 months & that the whole infant thing is scary. I'm right there with you.......

I am beyond flattered that you thought to include me as a recipient of these amazing awards! It means so much that you took the time to read my stuff and shine the light on my newer & modest little blog! I thank you from the bottom of my Monkey heart :) Mostly, I'm just glad you like what I scribble on about, means SO very much.

Will post about these this week or early next as i'm a traveling girl this week .....
THANK YOU MAMA CITA!!!!!
Mandy, you straight up Rock ! :)

Mandy-Thanks so much for the kind words and introducing me to some new blogs that I hadn't found yet! I love reading your blog and I agree-we just might become new Bff's with all the cool things we have in common! I will be certain to make sure that you don't just unpack your couch and stay there...Pensacola is a great city to explore!

Hey, speaking of teaching signing. Rachael from Signing-Time is offering options for teaching it. You should check it out. Who knows, they may need a signing time teacher in Florida!!! ;)

I am hopping over to check out the recipients and those who gave them to you. You were the first to recognize me with awards not too long ago! I still have not bestowed them upon others....not because I'm lazy but because I was new to blogging and wanted a chance to visit some blogs.
